On-device transcription
Dictation stays on your Windows machine instead of being routed to cloud transcription APIs.
PrivaSpeech helps small law firms draft client emails, matter notes, and documents faster on Windows without sending audio to third-party transcription services. It runs on-device and works offline after setup for travel, court-adjacent work, and confidentiality-sensitive environments.
Start with one attorney or staff workflow first. If your firm wants a guided evaluation, contact us and we can help run it.
The challenge
Small firms regularly dictate client emails, matter notes, draft letters, and internal case updates. Many dictation tools send that audio to remote servers before text comes back.
Court buildings, client sites, travel days, and locked-down office environments are not ideal places to depend on cloud-only transcription or a new browser workflow.
How it works
PrivaSpeech uses a local transcription engine and a clipboard-first workflow. No dictation audio is sent to external transcription APIs.
Trigger PrivaSpeech from Word, Outlook, your case management system, or any application.
Parakeet V3 models run on your Windows PC. No internet required after the initial model download.
The transcript is copied to your clipboard. Paste directly into briefs, emails, or case notes.
Data flow
Local microphone input, local transcription, text ready to paste into your existing workflow.
Confidentiality
Dictation stays on your Windows machine instead of being routed to cloud transcription APIs.
Mobility
Dictate in courthouses, during travel, or in locked-down environments after the initial setup. No internet connection is required for dictation.
Speed
Use the same Word, Outlook, and browser-based systems your firm already relies on. Dictate, then paste where the work already lives.
Common workflows
Dictate observations, intake notes, witness summaries, and strategy notes, then paste them into your matter system.
Draft client emails faster. Speak your message and paste it into Outlook or your email client.
Get first drafts of letters, arguments, and motions down quickly, then edit and refine the text.
Use PrivaSpeech with browser-based case tools by dictating locally and pasting the transcript where your team already works.
Bring in local `.wav`, `.mp3`, `.m4a`, or `.aac` dictation files from your recorder or phone and transcribe them locally. Use private mode when you want that import kept out of local history.
Transcription accuracy depends on your microphone quality, background noise, and speaking clarity. For best results, use a quality headset or USB microphone in a quiet environment. Legal terminology is often handled well, but names, citations, and specialized vocabulary may still need correction.
Evaluate it with one real workflow first before relying on it for critical documents.
PrivaSpeech processes audio locally. Your dictation does not pass through external transcription services, which can reduce exposure compared with cloud-first tools. You should still evaluate it against your firm's own security, confidentiality, and practice requirements.
PrivaSpeech works with any application that accepts text input. It copies transcriptions to your clipboard for pasting into Clio, PracticePanther, MyCase, Word, Outlook, or any other system that accepts pasted text.
Yes. After setup, dictation works offline. That can be useful for courthouses, client sites, travel, or any environment where connectivity is limited.
Start with the trial for one user if you want to validate the workflow first. If your small firm wants a guided rollout or manual billing, contact us and we can help you evaluate that path.
Yes, for standard local formats: `.wav`, `.mp3`, `.m4a`, and `.aac`. Those files are transcribed locally on the Windows device running PrivaSpeech. Olympus `.dss` and `.ds2` formats are not supported.
